Description and Features of the SITE/ASSET
E' una delle più importanti aree umide d'Europa dove nidificano e vivono i fenicotteri rosa. L'origine del sistema degli stagni costieri di Molentargius e di Quartu risale al Pleistocene, i cui ripetuti cicli di ingressione e regressione marina hanno portato al deposito di due strisce sabbiose alluvionali. Quella più interna , Is Arenas è una spiaggia fossile che separa il bacino delle saline dal Bellarosa maggiore. Quella più esterna è il Poetto, meraviglioso litorale cagliaritano che si apre sul Golfo degli Angeli.
